A random topic for a first post.  A conversation that was had that was more based on confidence than technical prowess: scripting is not programming.

A simple postulation, programming is socially seen as an elite skill, exclusive to the illusive and, to some, mysterious.  Scripting by the same audience is seen as cheats, hacks and not to be taken seriously.

The ability to do either or both is impressive.  It’s taking the time to read and experiment.  If not akin to writing, it’s a practice improved over experience and further accelerated by sharing.
